Chargers-Dolphins game blacked out per NFL policy

Posted by email
Per NFL policy, Sunday’s game between the Chargers and the Miami Dolphins will not be shown live in the Chargers’ television market. The League’s long-standing policy requires all games not sold out 72 hours prior to kickoff to be blacked out in the local market. This includes all signals within a 75-mile radius of the stadium and those areas whose television signal reaches within that 75-mile zone. The league’s policy affects all telecasts, including cable and satellite.

More than 6,500 general tickets remain available at Qualcomm Stadium Gate C, www.Chargers.com, TicketMaster outlets or by calling TicketMaster at 1-800-745-3000. A wide variety of Club Seats, some of the best locations in the stadium, also are available.

The game kicks off at 1:15 pm. Fans can listen to the game live on radio on KIOZ Rock 105.3 FM and XTRA Sports 1360 AM in San Diego with Josh Lewin and Hank Bauer calling the action from the booth and Mike Costa reporting from the sideline. The Chargers Radio Network includes KLAC 570 AM in Los Angeles; KNWH 1250 AM in the Yucca Valley; KNWZ 94.3 FM in Palm Springs; KOSS 1380 AM in Palmdale and Lancaster; KSPA 1510 AM in Ontario, Rancho Cucamonga and the Inland Empire; KATY 101.3 FM in Temecula and the Inland Empire; KWDJ 1360 AM in Ridgecrest; KCAL 96.7 FM in Riverside and San Bernardino; KXO 107.5 FM in the Imperial Valley and Yuma, Arizona; KVFG 103.1 in Victorville and Hesperia; KHIT 1450 AM in Reno, Nev.; ESPN Radio 1100 AM in Las Vegas, and Sirius Satellite Radio.

The game will be broadcast in Spanish on XHFG 107.3 FM in San Diego, KWKW 1330 AM in Los Angeles, XHSOL 89.9 FM in Mexicali, Mexico and XEHS 1590 AM in Ensenada. Jorge Villanueva and Dante Lazcano will call the action. Fans in the blackout area will be able to see a replay of the game on NFL.com beginning at midnight Sunday.

The next Chargers home game is more than a month away when the Green Bay Packers take on the Chargers on Sunday, Nov. 6.

Chargers-Chiefs Postgame Notes

Posted by email
The Chargers held Kansas City scoreless in the first half today, extending their streak of shutting out the Chiefs to eight quarters, dating to 2010. The Chiefs broke the scoreless streak with a touchdown early in the third quarter.

At halftime, the Chargers held the Chiefs to no first downs and 34 total yards. According to league statistics, it’s the first time in at least the last 20 NFL seasons that the Chargers have played an entire half without allowing a first down.

Ryan Mathews had two rushing touchdowns today, his most in a game at Qualcomm Stadium. Mathews’ 98 yards were also a home best.

The Chiefs missed their first field goal attempt of the game today, ending a streak of 35-straight made field goals by Chargers opponents (preseason, regular season and postseason). Prior to today’s game, the last kicker to miss a field goal against the Chargers was Dallas’Nick Folk (42 yards) back on Dec. 13, 2009.

Nick Novak made his first field goal as Charger today from 35 yards in the second quarter, his first field goal in an NFL regular-season game came on Oct. 19, 2008 when he was kicking for the Chiefs. Novak later added a 41-yarder to go 2-for-2 on the day.

The Chargers’ 15-play touchdown drive in the second quarter today was the Chargers longest scoring drive since a 15-play touchdown drive against Tennessee Oct. 31, 2010.

Kansas City had an 18-play field goal drive in the fourth quarter. It was the longest drive against the Chargers since an 18-play field goal drive by Philadelphia on Oct. 18, 1998.

Eric Weddle’s fourth quarter safety was the Chargers’ first of the season by a member of the team’s secondary. It was his seventh career interception.

The Chargers reported two injuries today: Quentin Jammer (hamstring) and Jacques Cesaire (knee).
