Chargers-Ravens to be shown live in Southern California

Posted by email
Enough tickets have been sold to lift the local television blackout for the Chargers’ showdown against the AFC North-leading Baltimore Ravens on Sunday night, Dec. 18. Kickoff is 5:30 pm PT.
The game will be televised live in both English and Spanish. The English telecast will be shown in San Diego on KNSD-TV, Ch. 7 and in Los Angeles and Orange County on KNBC-TV, Ch. 4. Al Michaels and Cris Collinsworth will call the game from the booth and Michele Tafoya will report from the sidelines. The Spanish broadcast will be televised by Telemundo, Ch. 33 in San Diego and Ch. 52 in Los Angeles. Rene Giraldo, Edgar Lopez, Jessi Losada and Veronica Contreras will host the show and call the action.

Several hundred Club seats, some of the best locations in the stadium, are still available as well as a limited number of private suites. The Chargers’ ticket office at Gate C at Qualcomm Stadium is open Friday from 8-3 pm and Saturday from 10-4 pm. Tickets also can be purchased online at www.Chargers.com or by calling 800-745-3000.

Several milestones could be set during Sunday night’s game. Tight end Antonio Gates needs just five catches to become the Chargers’ all-time leader in receptions with 587, surpassing Pro Football Hall of Fame receiver and Chargers receivers coach Charlie Joiner. In addition, Philip Rivers needs just 255 yards passing for his fourth consecutive 4,000-yard season, joining Peyton Manning and Drew Brees as the only other quarterbacks in history with such a streak. And Ryan Mathews needs 57 yards rushing to reach 1,000 yards in his second NFL season.

At halftime of Sunday’s game, the Chargers will announce their Community Quarterback of the Year winner and present him or her with a $5,000 check for their program. The Community Quarterback program recognizes outstanding volunteers who exemplify leadership, dedication and a commitment to improving the youth football and cheer experience for youth in their community. The team also will honor all of the High School Coach of the Week winners as well as the Coach of the Year.

In addition, the Toyota End Zone Challenge will take place at halftime. It’s the culmination of an eight-week on-line promotion from which four contestants were chosen randomly to throw footballs from the 10-yard line into the bed of a 2012 Toyota Tacoma parked in the end zone. Each contestant will have 20 seconds to throw as many Nerf footballs as they can. The winner receives a two-year lease on the Tacoma.
The team will don their vibrant Charger “Power” (Powder) blue alternate uniforms for the second time this season.

Fans are reminded to be careful when purchasing tickets from secondary and unofficial ticket sources. Counterfeit tickets often look so real that fans don’t find the ticket has been duplicated or is counterfeit until they try to enter the stadium. Fans still looking for tickets to the game are advised to visit www.Chargers.com or NFL Ticket Exchange by Ticketmaster (www.Chargers.com/TicketExchange). NFL Ticket Exchange is the official ticket marketplace of the NFL and San Diego Chargers and all tickets listed are authentic and guaranteed.
