Chargers single-game tickets on sale Saturday
Individual tickets to each of the Chargers’ eight regular-season home games go on sale at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 31.
Fans can purchase tickets for all 10 preseason and regular season games at the Chargers’ ticket office at Gate C at Qualcomm Stadium; online at Chargers.com; or by calling TicketMaster at 800-745-3000 or visiting any TicketMaster outlet.
For those who prefer to purchase tickets directly from the Chargers’ ticket office at Gate C at Qualcomm Stadium, the first 100 fans that buy tickets at the stadium will get a 2010 Chargers yearbook autographed by one of the players.
In the preseason opener on Aug. 14, the four-time defending AFC West champion Chargers will take on the Chicago Bears. The game also will feature the team’s annual salute to youth football in San Diego County.
On Saturday night, Aug. 21 the Bolts will host the Dallas Cowboys, who visit Qualcomm Stadium for the second preseason game. The Chargers defeated the Cowboys in Dallas last season, 20-17 in the brand-new Texas Stadium. The Cowboys game also marks the Chargers’ annual Salute to the Military – a fan favorite – which includes one of the top pregame and halftime shows of the year.
The regular-season gets underway in September and the Jacksonville Jaguars will storm in to town Sept. 19 for the regular season home opener. Running back Maurice Jones-Drew could provide an immediate test for the Chargers’ run defense anchored by veterans Stephen Cooper, Shawne Merriman and Luis Castillo.
The Arizona Cardinals, one of the most successful NFC franchises of late and a participant in Super Bowl XLIII in 2008, roll in to San Diego on Oct. 3. Wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald figures to be the featured weapon for former USC quarterback Matt Leinart, who enters his first season as the Cardinals’ starter.
Only two teams have a better record than San Diego since 2006. One of them, the New England Patriots, will visit America’s Finest City on Oct. 24 and it’s likely to be one of the year’s toughest tickets. Quarterback Tom Brady will attempt to match Chargers quarterback Philip Riversand the potent San Diego offense in what could be a classic matchup.
On Halloween Day, fans will get a treat when the Chargers host the Tennessee Titans and their record-setting running back, Chris Johnson. Johnson set an NFL record with 2,509 yards in 2009, but the Bolts got the better of last season’s meeting, topping Tennessee, 42-17, in a special Christmas night matchup at LP Field.
The Chargers have been a staple in the NFL playoffs five of the last six seasons because of their dominance in the AFC West. Starting on Nov. 22 against Denver, the Chargers will play their next three home games against AFC West foes. After the Broncos game, the Chargers will face the Oakland Raiders and their new starting quarterback, Jason Campbell during their Alumni Weekend on Dec. 5. And a week later (Dec. 12), the Chargers will host Kansas City and their newly formed running back tandem of Thomas Jones and Jamaal Charles.
The Chargers will close out the home schedule with a special Thursday night game against San Francisco on Dec. 16. The 49ers have steadily improved under the direction of Mike Singletary and could be positioning themselves for a playoff run when they face the Chargers.
