POSTGAME NOTES
SAN DIEGO CHARGERS vs. MIAMI DOLPHINS
Qualcomm Stadium (70,000) – San Diego, California
Sunday, Sept. 27, 2009
- Philip Rivers passed for 303 yards today, his second-consecutive game of more than 300 yards. Combined with his 436-yard effort last Sunday against Baltimore (739 yards) are the most by a Chargers quarterback in a two game stretch since Dan Fouts passed for 784 yards in a two-game stretch in 1985. Fouts, who was in the CBS broadcast booth at Qualcomm Stadium for both of Rivers’ games, passed for 440 yards against Seattle on Sept. 15, 1985 and 344 at Cincinnati on Sept. 22, 1985.
- Vincent Jackson was the Chargers’ leading receiver today with 120 yards. It’s the second week in a row and the first time in his career that he’s recorded back-to-back 100-yard games (141 vs. Baltimore)
- Eric Weddle had the first interception return for a touchdown of his career today (31 yards). It was his second career TD as he returned a fumble 86 yards for a score last year vs. Atlanta.
- The Chargers had no new injuries to report. Shawne Merriman did not return to the game for the second half after re-aggravating a previous groin injury.
