“We are pleased to see positive results through our Code of Conduct policy,” said A.G. Spanos, the Chargers’ Executive Vice President – Executive Officer. “The policy has helped create a more fan-friendly environment and fewer incidents at games. We continue to see great success with our Designated Driver program. We’ve been among the top five teams in the NFL for the past four years with the most fans pledging to be designated drivers. “All of the parties involved, including the fans, have helped create a safe and enjoyable experience at the games.” There are several new initiatives and reminders that the Chargers are bringing to the fans’ attention. Both in the stadium and in the parking lot, fans have two options to reach security or the Chargers’ Guest Services. Fans can text “SECURITY” to 59629. Fans may also call 1-877-CHARGERS (242-7437) to speak with a Guest Services representative, report fan conduct issues or ask general questions. The team would also like to remind fans that smoking is not allowed in Qualcomm Stadium and fans in violation will be ejected from the stadium. In addition to the team’s Family Sections inside the stadium, the team now has designated an alcohol-free Family Parking Section. Spaces are available through advance purchase at $20 per game. Transportation alternatives continue to be a top focus for the Chargers, Ace Parking and Qualcomm Stadium. The Chargers want to remind fans that bus service is available to and from games. Sports Fan Express, a new express bus service, and Chargers North County Express Coach are excellent transportation options for fans. The North County service has two new pick up locations in Temecula and special service from DeAnza Cove/Beach areas. Tickets can be purchased in advance to guarantee a seat. For more information, go to www.Chargers.com for pick-up locations and times. The San Diego Trolley continues to drop fans at the stadium doorstep on game days. Fans can buy commemorative day passes in advance at the Chargers Team Store at Gate G. If driving to Chargers home games, please carpool and expect major delays almost two hours before kickoff. The parking lot opens four hours prior to kickoff. Vehicles with parking permits can access the parking lot five hours before kickoff.
The goal of Gameday…The Right Way is to focus fans’ attention on the Fans’ Code of Conduct, which the team created in 2006 to remind fans to be considerate and respectful of their fellow fans at all times. The Code of Conduct is in effect from the time fans enter the parking lot to the time they leave the parking lot.
The Fans’ Code of Conduct states that fans who demonstrate inappropriate and disruptive behavior, including the following, are subject to ejection and season ticket holders risk losing their season ticket account and/or parking privileges for:
Event patrons are responsible for their conduct as well as the conduct of their guests and/or persons using their tickets. Even if season ticket holders give away or sell their tickets to a game, the account holder is responsible for the actions of those using the tickets. Event patrons and guests are subject to ejection without refund and potential loss of ticket privileges for future games for violations of the Code of Conduct.
###
The Chargers have added some special touches for the fans to raise the energy level in Qualcomm Stadium for their much-awaited home opener versus the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday, Sept. 19.
Ticket holders are urged to get to their seats in time for the pregame festivities. The team has planned a special tribute to two Chargers Hall of Famers who passed away this offseason. Fans will have a chance to pay tribute while the team presents a moving video and moment of silence for former Head Coach Don Coryell, 85, and defensive tackle Gary “Big Hands” Johnson, 57, both members of the team’s Hall of Fame who passed away in July and August, respectively. The Chargers also will wear helmet decals, one showing “Air Coryell” and the other showing Johnson’s number 79. Following the tribute, fans will be lifted out of their seats when skydivers land on the stadium field, a giant American flag is unfurled by Marines during the National Anthem, and the final crescendo will be a flyover to kick off the home opener. The Chargers have approximately 12,000 tickets available for the opener, including 2,000 Club seats, some of the best seats in the stadium. Fans without tickets have a wide variety of price levels and locations to pick from, starting at $54 in the Chargers’ Family sections. The team has until 1:15 pm PT Thursday, Sept. 16 to sell enough tickets to assure its opener will be televised live in Southern California.
