Largest crowd of season expected for Sunday's Chargers-Packers game

Posted by email

The Chargers are expecting their largest crowd of the season for Sunday’s 1:15 p.m. Chargers-Packers game at Qualcomm Stadium. Here are some important reminders for fans attending the game.

Get to the stadium EARLY! The parking lot will open at 9 a.m. and the stadium gates will open at 11:30 a.m. The parking lot is expected to fill and close early so carpool or use public transportation (Bus and Trolley).

The Chargers would like to remind fans to be careful when purchasing tickets from secondary and unofficial ticket sources. Tickets purchased from secondary sources often can be fraudulent or counterfeit tickets. Counterfeit tickets often look so real that fans don’t find the ticket has been duplicated or is counterfeit until they try to enter the stadium. Tickets to Sunday’s game were offered only by the Chargers as part of full or mini-season ticket plans through the Chargers ticket office. Fans still looking for tickets to the game are advised to visit NFL Ticket Exchange by Ticketmaster. NFL Ticket Exchange is the official ticket marketplace of the NFL and San Diego Chargers and all tickets listed are authentic and guaranteed. Visit www.NFL.com/TicketExchange for more information.

Expanded pat-downs will be in effect at the stadium gates. To expedite the process for fans bringing items into the stadium, the Chargers strongly suggest that all items be clearly visible; that fans use clear or see-through bags to carry items in, and avoid carrying backpacks or large bags with lots of pockets that need to be opened and inspected. San Diego Trolley schedules and fares are available at www.sdmts.com. Other transportation information:the Sports Fan Express bus (tickets and information at www.goboltsbus.com), the Go Chargers North County Express Coach (tickets and information at www.seatplanners.com), the Amtrak Pacific Surfliner (www.amtrak.comor call 800-USA-RAIL) and the COASTER (ticket and schedule information available at www.GoNCTD.com).

Fans with pre-purchased parking permits will be able to enter the parking lot beginning at 8 a.m. Once the parking lot reaches capacity, overflow parking will be available at the Mission City Corporate Center, San Diego State University, the Mission Valley Marriott Hotel and the Town and Country Hotel. Overflow lots vary in price.

For fans that arrive early, The Bud Light Chargers Power Party is one tailgate party you won’t want to miss. It’s easy to find (located in LOT E2/F2) and is a hot spot for all Chargers Fans. Watch early game action on the JumboTron screens or any TV in the sports bar area, enjoy delicious concessions and ice cold Bud Light. You can also get an autograph and your picture taken with members of the Hottest Dance Team in the NFL, the Charger Girls. The Power Party is the perfect place to meet up with friends. See you at the Bud Light Chargers Power Party at every regular season home game!

For fans driving to the game: tailgating is allowed only in your own parking space. Police will issue citations to fans whose tailgate parties infringe on neighboring parking spaces or parties which block sidewalk and pedestrian areas. Glass bottles are not allowed in the parking lot.
Fans can follow @chargersgameday on Twitter for traffic, trolley and parking lot updates from the stadium.

Per San Diego Municipal Code, Qualcomm Stadium is a smoke-free facility. Smoking is prohibited inside all areas of Qualcomm Stadium. Fans who continue to smoke inside the stadium will be subject to ejection.

Chargers collecting food at Sunday's game

Posted by email

Fans attending Sunday’s game between the Chargers and Green Bay Packers are encouraged to bring non-perishable food and join the Chargers in helping San Diegans in need. The food collected will help families stricken by the economic crisis and help shore up the Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank’s dangerously low food supply during the holiday season.

The parking lot gates open at 9 a.m. and entrance gates open at 11:30 am. Red bins will be positioned at all stadium entrances. The most needed items are canned meats, canned fruits and vegetables, pasta, soup and cereal.

The fan who brings in the most food will receive a Philip Rivers autographed football.

For more information, call Chris Carter of the San Diego Food Bank at 619-857-2314.

Blackout Lifted for Chargers-Packers

Posted by email

Enough tickets have been sold to lift the local television blackout for the Chargers’ showdown against the defending Super Bowl champion Green Bay Packers on Sunday, Nov. 6.

The game will be televised live by FOX Sports on Fox 5 in San Diego and Fox 11 in Los Angeles and Orange County.

The Chargers expect one of the largest crowds in team history as only a very limited number of Club seats and suites remain available. The Club seats are available only if purchased with a similar number of Club seats to the Chargers’ matchup against the Oakland Raiders and quarterback Carson Palmer on Nov. 10.

Following the Chargers-Packers game, San Diego’s final four home games include battles against Oakland, Denver, Buffalo and Baltimore. The team is selling the final four games in an exclusive package which provides the same seats to all four games AND the opportunity to purchase those same seats to any home playoff games.

“The 4-1 start has really kick-started another flurry of ticket sales,” said Chargers Executive Vice President & Chief Executive Officer A.G. Spanos. “It’s good to see the growing excitement about the second half of the season and what lies ahead.”

The Chargers-Raiders game is the first on the NFL Network’s Thursday night schedule. When the Broncos come to San Diego on Nov. 27, fans will witness Junior Seau’s induction into the Chargers’ Hall of Fame. The Buffalo game on Dec. 11 marks the return of Shawne Merriman to San Diego, and the Baltimore game on Dec. 18 is a nationally-televised prime-time affair on NBC’s Sunday Night Football.

The Chargers’ ticket office at Gate C at Qualcomm Stadium is open weekdays from 8-5 pm. Tickets also can be purchased online at www.Chargers.com or by calling 800-745-3000.
