Blackout Lifted for Chargers-Raiders

Posted by email

Enough tickets have been sold to lift the local television blackout for the Chargers’ showdown against the AFC West rival Oakland Raiders on Thursday, Nov. 10. The game will be televised live nationally by the NFL Network. In addition, FOX 5 in San Diego will also carry the telecast. The Chargers-Raiders game is the first on the NFL Network’s Thursday night schedule.

The Chargers expect another huge crowd on Thursday, just days after the team drew the third-largest crowd (68,908) in its history to the game against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday night.

The television ratings in San Diego for the Chargers-Packers game were the highest in recent memory. The game drew a 38.9 rating and 62 share. Translated, that means that 38.9% of the total televisions were tuned to the game while 62% of the televisions in use at the time were tuned to the game.

Several hundred Club seats, some of the best locations in the stadium, are still available. The Chargers’ ticket office at Gate C at Qualcomm Stadium is open weekdays from 8-5 pm. Tickets also can be purchased online at www.Chargers.com or by calling 800-745-3000.

Fans are reminded to be careful when purchasing tickets from secondary and unofficial ticket sources. Several hundred fans were turned away at the stadium entrances Sunday before the Chargers-Packers game because they were holding fraudulent or counterfeit tickets. Counterfeit tickets often look so real that fans don’t find the ticket has been duplicated or is counterfeit until they try to enter the stadium. Fans still looking for tickets to the game are advised to visit NFL Ticket Exchange by Ticketmaster (www.NFL.com/TicketExchange) NFL Ticket Exchange is the official ticket marketplace of the NFL and San Diego Chargers and all tickets listed are authentic and guaranteed.

Statement from Dean Spanos

Posted by email
STATEMENT FROM CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD-PRESIDENT DEAN SPANOS
ON PASSING OF OAKLAND RAIDERS OWNER AL DAVIS

“Al Davis is one of the main reasons our family is in the NFL today. Al approached my dad (Alex Spanos) about getting involved in the NFL and was very helpful to us through the process. He had great insight into the league, both the product on the field and the business off the field. He saw the potential for growth. He was very much a visionary. Our family will always be grateful to Al for his friendship.

“Al is also a big reason for the strong rivalry between the Raiders and the Chargers and its popularity among both teams’ fans. He personified the image and mystique of the Raiders, and that image has helped build the strength of our rivalries and the popularity of our game. There has been no one in the NFL like Al Davis.

“The NFL and NFL fans everywhere – not just Raiders fans – owe Al Davis for helping to build the game we all love so much. He will be missed.”
